Overview / Comments
The 72-acre site, located in southeast Glastonbury, CT, is an assemblage of 3 adjoining parcels of varied topography with 1,243'+/- frontage along Dickinson Road. This site for potential residential development was once known as Sunset Quarries, where mineable forms of quartzite exist on approximately 25 acres of the site. 2.5 acre lot S-3B was once a functioning mine. According to a geological survey, it has been estimated that there is still another 238,000 cubic yards (532,000 tons) of Clough Quartzite that could be extracted from approximately 25 acres of the site. This material can be used as flagstone, veneer for buildings, and as crushed stone for roads.
